Current status:
At present this instrument has received tacit
approval from the SNS IOC (instrument oversight committee) and we
are hammering out the interim design specifications. While all users
require a set of fast, stable linearized detector banks which are free from
background artifacts, some user needs are geared towards higher resolution
while other potential users find flux a primary limitation. A more extensive
discussion can be found in the
SNS workshop report
.

IAT Executive Committee:
The current IAT executive committee has broad representation from researchers based at universities, national laboratories, and industry. The most immediate executive committee goals are to obtain user input and personal expertise for specifying final diffractometer design specifications and to keep interested users aware of the current status and any future developments.
IAT Users Group:
Since all SNS instrumentation has
long lead times it is important to establish and maintain a central web cite
and forum for communication.
